The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us the necessity of giving charity without delay, how it gives us protection, saves us from hellfire, and also how it acts as a purifier of wealth.
“Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
Zakat can only be distributed among a specific group of people as stipulated in the Qur’an, while Sadaqah can be given to anybody in need of help.
A number of sayings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasise the benefits of giving Sadaqah Donation.
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” [Tirmidhi]
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ZAKAT AND SADAQAH DONATION?
While Zakat is an obligatory charity due from every Muslim who has wealth above the Nisab, on a yearly basis, Sadaqah Donation is an entirely voluntary charity that can be performed at any time of year. Zakat contributions are also specific for individuals, calculated based on one’s wealth, possessions, and liabilities. Zakat amounts to 2.5% of an individual’s annual savings, and cannot be given on behalf of another person. Sadaqah, on the other hand, can be given in any amount one wishes and can be given on behalf of another person.
Please Contact Us of any bank deposits/transfers made, including your name, the type of donation (Lillah, Sadaqah, Zakat etc) and the project the donation should go towards. Alternatively, you can use your name and type of donation as reference during deposit/transfer of funds. If we receive no email or reference name and type of donation after transfer of funds, your donation will automatically be classified as Sadaqah.
