The Aim Of The Project

is to make history in Cuenca City, the third largest city in Ecuador, South America. However, there are no Masjids or classes in Cuenca. Another key point is that there are over 150 large Muslim families living in this historical & religious city. Furthermore, most of them are refugees from war-torn Yemen/Syria/Afghanistan and neighbouring countries such as Venezuela.

In light of the above, you can help bring a Masjid to people who have never known the blessings of praying together in a Masjid in Cuenca.

Why Cuenca City?

The centre of Cuenca city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surprisingly, this is due to its many historical buildings and its historical importance as an agricultural and administrative centre.

Equally important is that Cuenca is a place treasured by empires. The Canari then Inca and then the Spanish occupied the region in the last two millennia.  Each renames it in their own language. For this reason, Cuenca is now the centre of many religions. However, there is no Masjid in this historical city. The closest masjid is a 4-hour drive.

Cuenca Needs Your Help

1 prayer mat spot will cost approximately £250.

A temporary prayer has been constructed housing 235 men and 40 women.

It has 2 adjacent buildings within the area. Future plans are to accommodate 2000 people as well as educational classes. This Masjid will be a focal point for events and social and welfare projects. Currently, we are providing food to the poor and underprivileged communities on a weekly basis, regardless of gender, ethnicity, and beliefs.
